How Much Crap Can Happen in One Week?

Monday - both kids wake up with fevers. We stay home. I notice that a sore on my son's leg isn't healing quite right so I call the doctor. We head over in the afternoon and while in the waiting room, my son splits his temple open on a chair (good timing eh?) He was okay, just a lot of blood. Some Keflex for his leg and a batman bandaid for his head made him all better.

Tuesday - Kids back to school, me back to work. All day my left arm hurts. I haven't been feeling well in general so I chalk it up that. Later that evening I get chest pains. That's right folks CHEST PAINS. It scares the bejesus out of me (especially considering my arm pain all day). We make a trip to the ER where they rule out heart attack (thank God) - but can't really tell me anything else. Good times.

Wednesday - I actually stay home and my husband takes me to the doctor. Again, no answers just more tests. I feel better than last night but now my back hurts from lying on a gurney the night before (my whole side is going numb). I think I'm falling apart.

Thursday - I wake up with scratchy throat. GREAT. Just when I thought I might be feeling better, this comes along. I spend the day downing medication and feeling dizzy. I'm getting old.

Friday - Drop off the kids and come back out to the van only to find it won't start. WTF? Did someone put a curse on me this week? I call around and the dealership sends out a tech who finds my relay line has been disconnected. Now I fear sabotage. Who is trying to do me in?

Hope the weekend goes better... couldn't get much worse eh?

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes!

I'm not really sure I could come up with 10 things I would change about my life. I am a true believer in "no regrets." In other words, I think everything that happens to us shapes who we are and the choices we make. But... mabye there are a few things I might have done differently...

10. 9th grade: Shoulda tried out for cheerleading... the lady called my house to see why I didn't show up which is probably a good indicator that I would have made it. I psyched myself out. I probably don't fit the "profile" anyway.

9. I wish I wouldn't have lost my FULL scholarship - even if it was to community college.

8. Wish I wouldn't have dropped out of college after one year. Going back when I was 31, working full time with two kids was a handful. But I got my BS!

7. In two cases, wish I would have held out for more money when I was offered a job. You can never get them to give ya more later!

6. This is going to sound bad but... I wish I hadn't slept with so many people in my wild and crazy days. I don't think I learned ANYTHING from that.

5. Wish I'd learned to play the guitar... I suppose I still could!

4. Wish I'd studied more in high school... I kinda breezed through and still got good grades... taught me I didn't have to give 100% - which isn't always great.

3. I wish I'd tried harder to get into Notre Dame. I really wanted to go there, but again, psyched myself out.

2. I wish I wasn't so shy in High School. I look back and think I seemed dorky.

1. I wish I would have told off kids who picked on me growing up. I never had the confidence and they knew it. But now... I AM AWESOME!

That's it. This was HARD!.

Okay princess.. here goes. I hate to be repetitive but... I am interested to see how you would change your life.. so answer your own challenge... 10 things you'd change about your life.

Peace out.

Dream the Impossible Dream!

Here goes, as tagged by princess diaree:

My 10 Dream Jobs

10. Teacher - stressful, yes but home early, summers off & great pension!
9. Computer Programmer - this is the geek in me speaking. Big bucks, solving puzzles all day long, and no interaction with the public. Nice.
8. Zookeeper - smelly I'm sure, but probably not too stressful.
7. College Instructor - kinda like a teacher without being blamed for every little thing the student does (or doesn't do) right (well most of the time anyway).
6. Writer - work on your own schedule. Express yourself daily. Sounds good to me!
5. Artist - a successful one that is.
4. Construction Flag Waver - do you know how much they make? $$$
3. Party Planner - OK, a little stressy but how freaking fun!?
2. Model - I wanna get paid to dress up, stand around and look pretty!
1. Nail Polish Color Namer - I am pretty sure they just recycle the colors once in a while and come up with new names. I can do this in my sleep!

That be it.

Nothing Ever Happens on Mars...

"Waiting for Guffman" has been on HBO all month. If you've never seen it, take some time to check it out. My four year old has started singing the "Stool" song - it's fairly hilarious. If you have any sense of humor at all, watch this movie and report back to me.

Bo-ring, bo-ring, bo-ring.

Dammit!

After two weeks of no blogging I just typed in this huge post... and lost it. Great. Now I'm too mad to retype it so, maybe I'll just ramble.

Not much new in the preppy girl world. Went to Chicago to visit relatives and princess diaree. Had the stomach flu while there. Good times.

The kids are back to school. Kate in Pre-K and Pete in the 2 yr old toddler room. Oh yes... and the third kid, my husband, is back to teaching theater & communications at his catholic high school.

Had a good weekend, the Bills won and I cleaned up my bedroom. I didn't expect to get much else in besides spending time with my husband and kids (which I did!) Back to work. I hope to blog more soon.

Kisses,

Preppy Girl
