Reality Bites

So... I'm totally addicted to another reality show - High School Reunion. Please tell me someone out there is watching this. It is getting good. Wednesday nights on TVLand - catch it. Or go to TVLand to catch up on old episodes. You will be addicted too!!!

Okay, so after I watched HSR last night, I saw another reality show that was totally RIDICULOUS. Have any of you seen I Know My Kid's a Star? A kid and his or her parent are competing to win an acting contract for the kid. The ultimate in childhood train wrecks, Danny Bonaduce, hosts. A couple of the parents seem semi-normal and the rest are all wack jobs. I'm pretty sure Hayley's mom is a dude.

I topped off my reality marathon with Celebrity Fit Club Boot Camp. I'm sorry but, who wants to see Erin Moran eating candy undies off a stripper? And Willie Ames is doing his best Sammy Hagar impersonation. Good God Bible Man! I only chose this show off the guide to see which celebrities were on - then it was like - I.couldn't.look.away. Dangit.

These damn shows are like crack. Anyone else embarrassed to admit they watch some reality crap???

Two Weeks?

Has it really been two weeks since I last blogged? What the fun? I have been entangled in a swirl of holidays and get-to-gethers. Here are some special events that happened in the last two weeks:

  1. We entertained about 30 people for St. Pat's. JEESH. Four corned beef briskets and two humungous shepherd's pies. At some point we also made mudslides. Mmmmm.

  2. March madness descended upon our household. Galoot has been pretty worthless for days, preoccupied with brackets & ESPN.

  3. An iPod has entered the household. Galoot bought a Nano for his upcoming train trip to Albany. God forbid he look out the window and enjoy the scenery for a few hours. :)

  4. PGirl Jr. got her first webkinz - a cute little collie named Sparky. As I picked her up from school Monday - she was showing it to one of her friends who commented, "oh I have that one. I actually have 10 webkinz and my sister has 16." Are parents insane? I was feeling like a sucker for buying just ONE.

  5. Galoot JR. got his first set of stitches. In short - Good Friday - off from school - stayed home with daddy - jumped on the bed.

How was your Easter?

Once Upon a Time...

I realize this post is a little long but... if you don't mind reading some sap, indulge me.

About 10 years ago, a friend at work wanted to set me up with this guy. She kept saying he was funny and nice and I'd probably get along well with him. He happened to work in the same building as me so I got to sneak a peek a few times and he looked pretty okay so I thought, "what the hey." My friend said she'd tell him I was "interested" and I waited, somewhat patiently for him to make the first move.

Days passed and still, nothing. I approached my friend to see if the guy'd lost interest- "What the hell? Tell him to hurry up already." You know what it's like, going to work everyday - thinking you might see him - having to act like you don't see him when he's clearly in "eye-shot" - flipping your hair - dressing in your most flattering outfits. Let's face it, trying not to look desperate is a full time job in itself.

One day, a knock came on our office door. "Preppygirl!... There's someone at the door for you..." Now, let me just say that I was the Manager or our area which was a secure office (departmental employees only) so you literally had to knock on a locked door and wait outside - not unlike coming to someone's house. All my employees were giggling - because they'd caught on by then to what was up and it was like having 8 little brothers & sisters teasing you relentlessly. I checked my face & hair (AGAIN) and made my way to the door - which I shut behind me but could still see little faces poking through the blinds on the windows. As soon as I am outside, the following exchange took place:

Him: "Sooo... I hear you like beer."
Me: (slightly taken aback) "Umm, yeah. I do." (WTH did my friend tell him?)
Him: "Sooo... do you want to get a beer after work tomorrow night?"
Me: "Well, how about Thursday night - do you work Thursday night?"
Him: "Ummm, yeah I think so. That should work."
Me: "Okay, well I'll meet you backstage around 9:00 on Thursday."

At this point, I realize I am locked out of the office and have to sheepishly wait while NO ONE opens the door for me. I finally threaten persuade someone to open the door and getting WAY ahead of myself I kinda *float* back down to my office. While the girls in the office descend upon me to see what happened, my phone rings - it's him. "What night did we say we were going out?" I reply, "Thursday - March 12th." He giggles at himself a little and hangs up.

Two nights later my life changed forever. 10 years, 2 kids, 2 degrees, 1 broken leg, 1 kidney stone, 2 homes, 13 jobs, 8 cars, 2 fish, and 1 dog later - we're still together.

Happy Anniversary Galoot!

Can't Buy Me Love...

But I can buy me some boots. Sweet.

I'm looking cute today in these boots with a fetching little black velvet Eddie Bauer dress. And in response, God has decided to send a blizzard our way. My legs, which are covered by mere nylons from boot top to my above knee skirt bottom are EFFING COLD. And although I have also decided to wear my ankle length black dress coat, it only buttons down to my hips and whips wide open at the smallest wind gust. WTH is up with that? Still - the boots frickin rock (plus I'll be totally set next time I need to dress up like a pirate).

Rant over, PGirl out.

Have a great weekend!

Is It Wrong... ?

Is it wrong to watch your 4 year old son "shave" his bubble bath beard off with your foot callous scrub brush and not stop him?

Is it wrong to let your son run around the house, for a good 30 minutes, with a chocolate Hitler moustache he obtained from his ice cream sundae, just becasue it is providing amusement to you and your spouse?

Is it wrong to teach your son the classic "west side" hand throw so he can pop it out during his daily viewing of "This is how we do it..." on YouTube?

Is it wrong to be admitting all these things on the internet?
