It's Indescribably Beautiful!

Our Christmas weekend began with a long anticipated trip to Cleveland. Yes, I had to see Ralphie's house in all its glory, and so I did. My obsession with the movie proved to be slightly annoying to Galoot as I picked apart the details of the house's interior (the house interior shots were actually filmed on a sound stage in Toronto). But I certainly give the guy who renovated the house a lot of credit. He did a nice job with what he had (a house quite a bit smaller than the actual set). I also corrected people, under my breath of course, who insisted that the school scenes were shot around the corner (but were also actually shot in Toronto). Yes, I realize I'm a freak. We also got to see Randy's snow suit and zeppelin ("WHOOPEEE A ZEPPELIN!"), among other items from the film. It was so fun. When we watched the movie on Christmas the kids kept pointing at the house saying "We were at Ralphie's!" I highly recommend the trip to any fellow freaks.
Here are a few more pics (poor cell phone camera quality - as in my excitement, I actually forgot our camera).

Now the biggest problem I have is my 3 year old asking me for a BB gun every day since Saturday. I keep telling him he'll shoot his eye out.
As soon as I saw the article in the Buffalo News that you could tour The House I yelled, "ROAD TRIP!!!!" to my husband. Did you guys pass up the chance to eat at the Chinese Restaurant featured in the movie? Apparently it is still open and serving all families whose turkeys were eaten by the next door neighbor's dogs.

J - No Chinese turkey for us, but we considered it. Maybe next trip. I wish I'd known you and Makkaio wanted to go - we could've had a convoy!

I still have not seen A Christmas Story, although I did see a few minutes of it this weekend. The trip looks like it was fun!

I love this post! That movie is one of my favorites. It's great that you went....and shared!
Yes, definitely....he'll shoot his eye out! :) That is unless he wants the broken one we have....but it has no compass on the stock. ;)

What a wonderfully perfect idea for Christmas. I read the article in the Washington Post...but, alas...couldn't make the trip.
Great blog!
