VH1 lpart IV - thank God.

76. Blues Traveler “Run-Around” - Roommate Favor8 was a big Blues Traveler fan which I suppose transferred over to me. Liked 'em.

77. Ice Cube “It Was a Good Day” - I liked Ice Cube in Boyz in da hood, but I have no idea what he sings.

78. Lenny Kravitz “Are You Gonna Go My Way” - Don't remember this song but he's hot.

79. Meredith Brooks “Bitch” - WAS she a bitch?

80. Right Said Fred “I’m Too Sexy” - Didn't Martha Quinn go out with one of these guys? Stupid song that no one will ever forget. I didn't get it.

81. Paula Cole “I Don’t Want to Wait” - OMG, this is one of those secret "I LOVE IT" songs. I still crank this one when it comes on the radio. I never really watched Dawson's Creek (except for a brief time when Joey and Pacey finally hooked up. I ditched the show again when they broke up. STUPID.)

2. Geto Boys “Mind Playing Tricks on Me” - ???

83. The Breeders “Cannonball” - ???

84. Snow “Informer” - ???

85. Cypress Hill “Insane In The Brain” ???

86. The Cranberries “Linger” - I like that chicks voice and how it turns up at the end of a note.

87. Billy Ray Cyrus “Achy Breaky Heart” - I hate this song. But I don't hate Billy Ray. He seems okay and he can laugh at himself which is good.

8. Duncan Sheik “Barely Breathing” - Good harmonizing song.

89. Liz Phair “Never Said” Galoot loves Liz Phair so I'd better say... I liked it (I did btw).

90. New Radicals “You Get What You Give” - ???

91. Sarah McLachlan “Building a Mystery” - This is more popular than "I will remember you?" Was that in the 80's or something?

92. Public Enemy “911 Is A Joke” - ???

93. Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories “Stay” -z I was going out with this guy and his old girlfriend sent him the words to this song. WHATEVER. Now when I hear it that is what I think of.

94. Fastball “The Way” - LOVE Fastball. Galoot made me a CD before we were married and it had this song which played over and over trying to learn the lyrics. So - I think about driving down the long road to my condo in Fla. when I hear it.

95. Montell Jordan “This is How We Do It” - This is how we do it.. this is how we do it. Liked it.

96. Nelson “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection” - This was the 90's? I'll admit it, I liked it. More fodder for Mr. Social's chastising of my musical taste.

97. Prince & The New Power Generation “Gett Off” - huh?

98. EMF”Unbelievable” - Great song.

99. Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” - WTF

100. Gerardo “Rico Suave” - Oh, Gerardo - I'm sorry but THIS freaking song made the cut and my 10,000 Maniacs are totally snubbed? What's this world coming to?

VH1 Part III

51. Tupac (featuring Dr. Dre and Roger Troutman) “California Love” - I should probably know this...

52. Sugar Ray “Fly” - Mark McGrath is hot and slightly creepy at the same time

53. Naughty by Nature “O.P.P.” - Yeah you know me. Catchy.

54. Joan Osborne “One of Us” - I remember singing along to this but this chick kinda bugged me

55. Fiona Apple “Criminal” - I think she looks freaky.

56. L.L. Cool J “Mama Said Knock You Out” - I bought his greatest hits at some point in the 90's and played it over and over. LL Cool J is hot as hell (and doin' it well)

57. Jay-Z featuring Amil and Ja Rule “Can I Get A…” - er um, no idea.

58. Sophie B. Hawkins “Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover” - Good tune. Her name always makes me think of the Sadie Hawkins dance.

59. Weezer “Buddy Holly” - I bought a new computer mid 90's and this video was on it as a "preview" of how great the video card worked. I couldn't believe that you could see stuff on your computer monitor that looked as good as TV.

60. Bell Biv DeVoe “Poison” - as former New Editioners, I loved this song. It is hard for me to say "Bell Biv DeVoe" without thinking of that Kids in the Hall Sketch.

61. Sheryl Crow “All I Wanna Do” - cute song, I liked it.
-
62. Live “I Alone” - I'm pretty sure I know this song. Liked it.

63. The Notorious B.I.G. featuring Mase & Puff Daddy “Mo Money Mo Problems” - Liked it, Puffy and all.

64. The Presidents of the United States of America “Peaches” - I don't remember this song but my roommate Favor8 went to their concert and got a T-shirt which just said PUSA - and I always thought it looked like the word PUSSY at quick glance.

65. Digital Underground “The Humpty Dance” - Good beat for dancin'

66. Edwin McCain “I’ll Be” - I can only think of "A Cinderella Story" when I hear this now. My kids call this movie "Diner Girl" which would probably have been a better title.

67. Deee-Lite “Groove Is In The Heart” - Always think of my friend Magda when I hear this and driving back from Washington Square in Miami in her car with like one (or no?) headlights. Yike.

68. Will Smith “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” - Will Smith, Funny = cute.

69. Korn “Freak on a Leash” - no idea

70. Jamiroquai “Virtual Insanity” - drawing a blank

71. Arrested Development “Tennessee” - overplayed but still great. I am still thirsty.

72. Barenaked Ladies “One Week” - awesome song, awesome band. Still trying to learn the words.

73. Marcy Playground “Sex and Candy” - no idea but the title reminds me of the Maniacs song "Candy Everybody Wants." How did THEY not make it on this list btw?

74. Cher “Believe” - Not into Cher at all but my friend Sylvia (yeah, the one who ran off with Metallica) hooked up with her guitarist for a while.

75. Kris Kross “Jump” - Those crazy kids with their clothes on backwards! Jump up, jump up and get down!

VH1 part II

Here goes my crack at VH1's top 100 songs 26 - 50. I promise you will be bored by song 100.

26. Eminem “My Name Is” - Not a fan. I have no idea what this is.

27. Counting Crows “Mr. Jones” - I liked this okay. Good be boppy music.

28. Ricky Martin “Livin’ la Vida Loca” - I wanted to believe he isn't gay, but alas, I think he is (not that there's anything wrong with that). This song was overplayed and got completely annoying (especially in S. Florida).

29. Vanilla Ice “Ice Ice Baby” - Good beat that he claims he did not steal. Dude, it's so obvious. UNDER PRESSURE! No one rips off the Bowie.

30. *NSYNC “Tearin’ Up My Heart” - All I can think of is that TV commercial where the girl wakes up and NSYNC is in her room singing this song. I have no idea what the commercial was for but this is how I found out who NSYNC actually was. They are another Backstreety type group I can't help but sing along to (Just like NKOTB, 98degrees, etc. For the record, I also love, not so gimmicky boy bands New Edition, Boys II Men, Blackstreet & BBD). Motown Philly anyone?

31. Radiohead “Creep” I am embarrassed to say I don't know this song. I'm sure I would recognize it if you played it but can't make the connection between song title and what it sounds like - this is probably true of a lot of songs.

2. BLACKstreet “No Diggity” - Yea! Here's my Blackstreet. Had this CD, played it incessantly for a while. I let someone borrow it and they scratched the shit out of it. gah.

33. Spice Girls “Wannabe” - had the CD, played it, became the target of much ribbing by my friends. Zigga zig ahh..

34. Third Eye Blind “Semi-Charmed Life” No idea.

35. Oasis “Wonderwall” - I remember singing this in the car. I guess I thought it was a pretty catchy tune.

36. C+C Music Factory “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” Falls into the "pretty good song that got totally overplayed at clubs, thus ruining it for me" category.

37. Green Day “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” Umm... again, I'm sure I know it...?

38. Christina Aguilera “Genie In A Bottle” - I always thought she looked like a skank but man can she sing.

39. Goo Goo Dolls “Iris” - Everyone said the Goo Goo's sold out but people are allowed to change what kind of music they do - especially when it's good music. Yea Goo Goo's!

40. Color Me Badd “I Wanna Sex You Up” - This always makes me think of 90210. Did Color me Badd do a guest spot or something?

41. Spin Doctors “Two Princes” - I didn't know the name of this song but I just looked it up to make sure it's what I'm thinking of. Cute song.

42. Collective Soul “Shine” - I'm so embarrassed that I have to keep looking up lyrics to recognize the song. I like this song - but I was actually thinking that like Creed sang it or something. Is this Jesus Rock? (not that there's anything wrong with that).

43. En Vogue “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” Great song. Good harmonies which is my favorite part to sing.

44. The Fugees “Killing Me Softly With His Song” - Liked it, "One time, one time..."

45. Hootie & the Blowfish “Only Wanna Be With You” - I went to see Carrot Top in West Palm Beach once and he really was HYSTERICAL (this is when he was in his hey day). Anyhoo, he did this recurring joke about how Everywhere you go, at anytime, there is a Hootie song. So when I hear a Hootie song I think of that. Also think of the video with Dan Marino who I had a very tenuous connection to when we lived in FLA. Galoot met Darius once, ask him about it...

46. Shania Twain “You’re Still the One” - Shania, I know you're hot and all but you bore me.

47. Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch “Good Vibrations” Liked it - he's hot.

48. Matchbox Twenty “3 AM” - thought it was okay. Meh.

49. Jewel “Who Will Save Your Soul” - I had this CD. Sherri and I would sing to this one too.

50. Alice in Chains “Man in the Box” - Knew all the words to this song. It rocked. I was around Princess when she had her little "episode" with Alice in Chains. Too funny.

See you in a few days to tackle the next 25!

Not Quite Dead

So I finally did it. I skipped an entire month in my blog archives. December 2007 shall ever remain empty. I hang my blog head in shame.

Now for the VH1 top 100. I couldn't possibly pass up re-hashing tons of angst so her goes:

01. Nirvana “Smells Like Teen Spirit” - I was so not "into" Nirvana when they first came out. I remember being more into the Weird Al version of the video than the song.

02. U2 “One” - I really was a U2 freak during the ZooTV tour and the release of Achtung baby. For some reason I thought this song was just "ok" and I thought the video was freaky (buffalo running) Hmmmm.

03. Backstreet Boys “I Want It That Way” - I remember them singing this on Saturday Night Live and totally digging it. I also remember Galoot totally making fun of me because I was way too old to be liking the Backstreet Boys.

04. Whitney Houston “I Will Always Love You” - Seen The Bodyguard WAY too many times. Don't like Whitney but love Costner. I have been known to belt this during lone car rides.

05. Madonna “Vogue” - Greta Garbo and Monroe, Dietrick and DiMaggio... Yeah, I could recite that whole passage... still can. Strike a pose there's nothing to it, Vogue.

06. Sir Mix-A-Lot “Baby Got Back” - Former super blogher Sherri would sing this all.the.time. She's little in the middle but she's got much back!

07. Britney Spears “…Baby One More Time” - I just remember thinking - "that chick is 16?" WTH

08. TLC”Waterfalls” - Didn't one of these chicks have condoms on her glasses or something?

9. R.E.M. “Losing My Religion” - Awwww shit. This is another one that Sherri sang A LOT. I love R.E.M. so I sang right along with her. Plus, Mr. Social played the guitar and Mandolin so I seem to remember him playing it a lot.

10. Sinéad O’Connor “Nothing Compares 2 U” - Another song I've belted during drive time.

11. Pearl Jam “Jeremy” - We went to Lollapalooza in 92 and Pearl Jam rocked. Our friend RJ was with us and he kept singing this song but he'd made up his own verse which I can't help but sing everytime I hear this song, "Jeremy got his pant leg caught in his spoke and .... fell off his bike."

12. Alanis Morissette “You Oughta Know” - bought this CD one weekend when I'd just broken up with a guy and Sherri and I drove to Key West. 'nuff said.

13. Dr. Dre (featuring Snoop Doggy Dogg) “Nuthin’ but a “G” Thang” - Should I know this song?

14. Mariah Carey “Vision of Love” - Mariah before she went cuckoo

15. Red Hot Chili Peppers “Under the Bridge” - another one from that Lollapalooza, and Under the bridge downtown Fort lauderdale - Squeeze! (great club)

16. MC Hammer “U Can’t Touch This” - this feels like it came out in the 80's. All I can see is those pants

17. Destiny’s Child “Say My Name” - I don't get what's so great about Destiny's Child.

18. Metallica “Enter Sandman” - One of the only Metallica songs I could probably even identify. My freind Sylvia went on the road with them as their "laundry girl" (ie, she dropped out of college and rode on the bus and slept with one of them). This is always what I think about when I hear Metallica.

19. Beastie Boys “Sabotage” - I can picture the video. Bad wigs. Loved it.

20. Hanson “MMMBop” - I like this song. I heard it the other day and still liked it. I wish I could understand the lyrics though.

21. Celine Dion “My Heart Will Go On” I hate this song. I disliked this song so much, I didn't see Titanic (until about a year ago) and I won't see it again.

22. Beck “Loser” I remember thinking this applied to many people I knew then.

23. Salt-N-Pepa with En Vogue “Whatta Man” - Ummm, I remember this. I don't remember liking it but I'm sure I've sung along to it in the car at one time or another.

24. House of Pain “Jump Around” - I really liked this when it came out but got annoyed by it quickly when I heard it played in every club, where everyone, jumped.

25. Soundgarden “Black Hole Sun” - Liked this one. Chris Cornell looked cute for a split second in this one.

Too much to do all in one sitting... I'll do 25 at a time.

Good night!
