Big Love
I finally caught up with "Big Love" last night. That show continues to suck me in. If you've never seen it, check it out. I was totally UNinterested when I saw previews - but I have to say, it's really well done and the acting is top notch.
I think what shocks me the most is how it all just "works." By that I mean the relationship among all the family members. It seems like an impossible situation (and oh do they EVER have problems) but the wives are all willing to share him (well, sort of) so it works.
So what is up with Nicky (the braid)? One week I love her, the next week I hate her. And Marjine is hilarious. I'm glad she finally kinda stood up to the neighbor lady. Then there's Barb, wife #1 and rightfully so - she's almost perfect. Imagine how much money Bill must make if he can support three families, in three huge houses! Of course, Nicky's credit card bills might set him back a little ($58,000.00!!!).
This show is so effed up sometimes it's a little hard to watch - but it hardly bothers me (that's a change as far as my viewing habits are concerned - a far cry from my usual smiley romantic comedy). The storyline and humor keep it going. Anyone else hooked?

Oh I'm TOTALLY with you on the Jim & Pam thing. I don't know if they can keep it up. Part of me was hoping the season would end up with her going on the trip with Jim to escape her wedding. Also, I know she loves Jim but I don't know if she's got the balls(?) to dump Roy. I'd love to see them together but it's like that whole Ross & Rachel thing - if you put them together does the show lose it's hook? Ah to be a fly on the wall in the script writing room of that show...

I don't watch Big Love, either, but I'll get on The Office bandwagon...
Re: Jim and Pam...I can't stand her boyfriend. I think if Jim and Pam got together it would NOT ruin the show, because it would introduce a whole new genre of inappropriate behavior from Michael: "Jim, did you want to borrow my office with Pam during your break today" (wink wink)
Did you used to watch the show Ed? They ended that show so abruptly after Ed and Carol's wedding. I think that show had a lot of life left in it, and they could have explored a whole new type of humor with their married life.

3 - I like your take on the Jim & Pam thing - it really could open up other story lines!
I LOVED Ed too. It really would have been cute to see their married life. I miss that show. My husband and I kinda connected with it because we moved back to my hometown from a big city and could relate to a lot of the stuff he was going through. Maybe we should buy a bowling alley?? - it worked for Ed!

I LOVE Big Love so much that I watch it on HBO West at Midnight (my time)on Sunday nights (I am not very smart).
I am with you on Nicky, she for the most part bugs the crap out of me but then she goes and stands up to Barb's sister and she, more than the rest(except Bill), probably has a better perspective on the family dynamics having grown up in that environment.
I can't wait to see how the Roman and Bill story line plays out - could Bill actually be the Prophet???

I think Bill's the prophet and Roman knows it. Especially after what Nicky said last week (although, she's proven to be a little liar before - i.e. "I want to have a baby" which is little tough when you're on the pill!) And I loved the part where Nicky was moving the dryer around. It's like she's the "man" out of the three wives. Too funny.

Hasn't Nicki been repairing other appliances in earlier episodes? I loved her quote about french fries with ketchup. Something like, "Of course I want ketchup. They're french fries!"
